EU / UN / World bank Bid Writing

This has been the core area of activity for FCL, and is where the most experience is embedded.   Successful EU bid writing depends on many factors, including a complete understanding of the process and possible restrictions, a good transnational idea, that translates into different languages, a flexible attitude to project delivery, that can accommodate changes of personnel or priorities, and a keen understanding of the ethos behind many of the EU programmes: that of promoting the “European Model” across States.  Together with a good transnational partnership (see next section), the elements of successful EU bid writing dictate a thorough knowledge of the partners business, and key personnel who are enthusiastic enough to drive the project through to maturity.  With major changes in the EU programmes, FCL is making great efforts in keeping itself fully informed of the new requirements, so that any advice given is related to current / future requirements of the programmes.  Press here for links to the timetables of bidding for some of the main EU programmes.

Transnational Partner Formation

FCL has contacts in more than 28 countries, and has experience is setting up many international partnerships for projects and associated exchanges.   By working with established links, and including new partners in specific areas, FCL improves the chance of these partnerships being successful, and hence developing better outputs from transnational co-operation.  Partners have been primarily in the rural business arena, but increasingly, contacts are being made with high-tec companies and e-learning organisations.   With the new Accession countries, there are many opportunities to develop worthwhile and long-term partnerships, and funding bodies are keen to support such initiatives.

Marketing - Signposting Opportunities

In dealing with clients, there have been several occasions when FCL has become involved in marketing, and market-related issues.   This has lead to a more proactive element being created, and FCL has access to experienced professional personnel who can offer many aspects of marketing expertise, either as a “one off” or as part of a packaged offer.   Initial discussion (half day free) can identify possible sources of mutual interest, and FCL and associates would be keen to offer this service to any organisation / owner/manager that may feel that this would be of benefit.   This also includes transnational marketing opportunities.

Study Visits

Small businesses often find difficulty in keeping up to date with the latest developments in their particular area.   One method of overcoming this barrier is to take part in a study visit to other companies (possibly in other countries) of similar size or development, and discuss, in person, some of the opportunities available, and developments being tested.  There may also be benefits by co-operating with some of these firms.   FCL has excellent contacts within the business arena, and would be pleased to organise and lead Study Visits to specific business sectors.   Some of the international visits are promoted by Business Links, and they have a valuable list of contacts and countries being visited – click here for links to their web page.
